"The first thing we want is breathing places accessible to our overworked people. As these grounds develop in beauty, and new works of art are introduced, our citizens can resort thither to spend a holiday or leisure hour, instead of being compelled to stay within doors, or to frequent places of questionable propriety, for recreation or pastime." Second Annual Report of the Park Commission, 1870
Allegheny Commons

Allegheny Commons has been serving the citizens of Allegheny, now known as Pittsburgh's Northside, for more than 130 years. Work is now underway, through implementation of The Master Plan for Allegheny Commons, to ensure that the park endures for generations to come.
